“We don’t need no stinkin’ backups!”

If your business is like most, it is critically dependent on the data in your computer(s). Accounting data. Emails. Documents and spreadsheets, and on and on.

If you expect to be in business for the long haul, you need to protect that data by regularly backing it up.

Don’t yet have a data backup plan in place? Consider the following sobering statistics:

93% of companies that lost their data center for 10 days or more due to a disaster filed for bankruptcy within one year of the disaster. 50% of businesses that found themselves without data management for this same time period filed for bankruptcy immediately. (National Archives & Records Administration in Washington)

94% of companies suffering from a catastrophic data loss do not survive. 43% never reopen and 51% close within two years. (University of Texas)

30% of all businesses that have a major fire go out of business within a year and 70% fail within five years. (Home Office Computing Magazine)

77% of those companies who do test their tape backups found back-up failures. (Boston Computing Network, Data Loss Statistics)

7 out of 10 small firms that experience a major data loss go out of business within a year. (DTI/Price Waterhouse Coopers)

96% of all business workstations are not being backed up. (Contingency Planning and Strategic Research Corporation)

50% of all tape backups fail to restore. (Gartner)

25% of all PC users suffer from data loss each year. (Gartner)

Larson Computer Services has well over 20 years experience helping thousands of customers with their business and home computers, and I can tell you that these statistics are quite realistic. Every hard drive fails, every tape drive fails, most recorded CD’s are no good, people accidentally delete or destroy data, and a USB flash drive is a terrible place to keep your company’s accounting data.

Let us help. Our off-site, secure, Professional-Grade backup service will automatically back up your important data (ALL of the data, not just accounting data, for instance) every day and store that data on multiple encrypted servers. Your data is safe, and only you have access to it.

And here’s one last statistic for you:

100% of the customers using the online backup service from Larson Computer Services have successfully restored their data when they needed to. 100% of their data. 100% of the time.

Is your business on the web yet?

Hi, I’m Les Larson, owner of Larson Computer Services, and I want to ask you a question:

“Does your business have a website yet?”

If it doesn’t, have you considered the business you might be missing because people can’t find you on the web?

Having a website is the modern-day equivalent of the business card or fax machine… if you don’t have a website, some people just don’t think you’re a “real” business, and they will go to the next vendor they can find on the Web.

More people now have handheld devices of some sort they use to find products and services on the web, and I think they all would laugh if you suggested they look you up in a phone book. If you’re not “on the Web”, they probably aren’t going to be calling you.

(Some of our clients have simple websites that only act as a 24/7 billboard, displaying contact information, along with store hours, location, that sort of thing. Their own customers have asked for that, so the customers can find the business’s phone number fast. People just don’t use phonebooks that much)

If you do have a website, are you happy with it? Is it “up” all the time? Does it display properly on smartphones? Does it convey the info you want it to, and is it easy for you to change from time to time (or even daily)?

And what about all the technical stuff that goes with having a website? Things like domain registration, hosting, DNS, MX records, website design, etc…

At Larson Computer Services, we’ve made it simple to get your business on the web. Every day, we help businesses big and small (and very small) get “on the Web”, with websites that are easy to manage, always stay up, and include extras like free spam filtering, automatic backup and unlimited email accounts.

Sound interesting? Then give us a call at 701-441-9794, ask us anything, find out how we can provide you with an affordable and reliable website, and let the whole world know you’re “Open for Business”!

Of course, The Best costs a little more…

I’m occasionally asked why we charge more for our services than some other local companies, and the answer is astoundingly simple and logical.

“We know more, and we do a better job”

I made a choice between two paths when I started Larson Computer Services in 1989. The choices were to be either a) the cheapest, or b) the best.

I also made another choice, between “selling Widgets” and “providing Expertise”. I chose to be in the Expertise side of things.

Twenty-plus years and thousands of successful resolutions later, I can tell you those choices have provided win-win scenarios our customers love, and they tell others about us, all around the country.

See, anybody who is reasonably honest and has at least two brain cells they can bang together knows that “Cheapest” and “Best” don’t go together. Ever. And anybody (and I do mean ANYBODY) can “sell” you a widget.

When people ask me about buying a new computer, I refer them to excellent, proven resources for branded or custom equipment (based on their preference) and when they need expert help setting things up, that’s where Larson Computer Services comes in.

With expertise ranging from local workstation issues to large, complicated networks, to web-based issues such as reliable website hosting, online backup and custom programming, there is simply not a better choice than Larson Computer Services. You won’t spend a fortune, and more importantly, you won’t be treated cheaply.
